{"id":110,"date":"2014-02-08T21:09:28","date_gmt":"2014-02-08T21:09:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/paleofoodcooking.com\/?p=110"},"modified":"2014-02-08T21:58:32","modified_gmt":"2014-02-08T21:58:32","slug":"kitchen-sink-soup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.paleofoodcooking.com\/?p=110","title":{"rendered":"Kitchen Sink Soup"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_111\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.everydaypaleo.com\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-111\" class=\" wp-image-111 \" alt=\"Kitchen sink soup\" src=\"http:\/\/paleofoodcooking.com\/paleo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Savory-beef-soup-1.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.paleofoodcooking.com\/paleo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Savory-beef-soup-1.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.paleofoodcooking.com\/paleo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Savory-beef-soup-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.paleofoodcooking.com\/paleo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Savory-beef-soup-1-332x221.jpg 332w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-111\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Courtesy of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.everydaypaleo.com\" target=\"_blank\">www.everydaypaleo.com<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 pounds grass fed ground beef (from Massa Natural Meats)<\/li>\n<li>3-4 cups chicken broth<\/li>\n<li>3-4 cups water (or more if needed \u2013 less if you want yours more \u201cstew like\u201d or more if you want it \u201csoupy\u201d)<\/li>\n<li>2 cups diced tomatoes (I use the jarred diced tomatoes that I order from Tropical Traditions)<\/li>\n<li>1 large sweet potato, diced (this time I used a big purple Japanese sweet potato)<\/li>\n<li>6 carrots, chopped (I used different colors of carrots; red, orange, and yellow)<\/li>\n<li>1 yellow bell pepper, chopped<\/li>\n<li>5 celery stalks, chopped<\/li>\n<li>2-3 cups shredded green cabbage<\/li>\n<li>3 small shallots, finely diced (about 1\/2 cup)<\/li>\n<li>3-4 garlic cloves, minced<\/li>\n<li>2-3 teaspoons ground cumin<\/li>\n<li>1-2 teaspoons coriander<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons chili powder<\/li>\n<li>1-2 tablespoons dried basil<\/li>\n<li>About 1\/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves, chopped<\/li>\n<li>Sea salt and black pepper to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>In a large soup pot add the sweet potatoes, carrots, chicken broth, and water and bring to a boil<\/li>\n<li>In a separate large pot or skillet, brown the 3 pounds of ground beef, and season with a little bit of salt and pepper, and set aside.<\/li>\n<li>After the soup pot comes to a boil, add the shallots, garlic, diced tomatoes, celery, and bell pepper and let simmer for about 10 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Add the browned ground beef and shredded cabbage and continue to simmer until the potatoes and carrots are tender.<\/li>\n<li>Season with all of the dried spices. Taste, and add more seasoning if desired.<\/li>\n<li>Stir in the fresh cilantro and serve.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>*Tips: Garnish with more fresh cilantro if desired, diced green onions, minced jalape\u00f1os jalape\u00f1os and more shredded green cabbage.
